Giving

Give only what you can afford and treasure those who are truly grateful for that which you had an abundance of.

A wealthy man will not need your gift of time or money but the gift of friendship may mean more to him than water to a man dying of thirst.

A new parent will not need your money or your friendship but the gift of time and energy to help around the house may mean more to them than a rope to a drowning man.

A homeless man will not need your gift of time or friendship but the gift of a few dollars, food or some new clothes may mean more to them than a raft on a sinking ship.

The Naive Idealist.

[Edit]
